The state of South Australia has expanded the list of occupations they are nominating for offshore applicants, as part of their COVID-19 recovery response.
For the last 18 months, sponsorship has been strictly limited to those based onshore in Australia. This update welcomes 70 new occupations, a sign of just how much skilled migrants from offshore are needed in Australia.
To meet the requirements as an offshore migrant, applicants must:
- Be skilled in an occupation from the Skilled Occupation List.
- Meet the minimum English requirement (proficient plus level).
- Have at least 8 years work experience in the nominated occupation (or closely related one).
- And meet all other Department of Home Affairs and the state-specific occupation requirements.
Offshore applicants who meet these requirements can submit a Registration of Interest (ROI).
The state nomination process is very competitive. Even if the minimum requirements are satisfied there is no guarantee that an invitation will be received after lodging an ROI.
