Family Visas Explained

Partnership Visa

Most work visa holders, resident visas, and citizens can support their partners to join them in Australia. You may be married, in a civil union, or a de facto relationship.

Prospective Marriage Visa

This visa is for those who are intending to travel to Australia for the purpose of marrying a Australia citizen or resident, where their spouse has been selected following an identified cultural tradition.

Dependent Child Visa

Australia citizens, residents, and some temporary visa holders may also support their eligible dependent children on their visas. Depending on their age, they may also be granted visas to attend school in Australia.

Parent Visa

If your child is an adult Australian citizen or resident and meets sponsorship requirements, you can apply to visit Australia for up to 3 to 5 years. A permanent visa option is also available, with very lengthy processing times.
