The latest immigration announcement from Australia is great news for anyone wishing to make the move Down Under. Last week the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement (A-UKFTA) was signed. Below is a snapshot of the latest update for you, in time for Christmas.
Managers and Industry Specialists currently working in the UK and looking to move to Australia will have:
- Guaranteed access to three-year intra corporate transfers; &
- Graduate trainees one year transfers (visa pathway details are to come)
Working Holiday age limits raised and maximum stay extended:
The eligible age to participate in working holiday opportunities has been raised from 30 to 35 years of age. Younger people will also have more time to travel to the UK for a working holiday with the maximum stay being raised from two years up to three years.
UK service professionals will be able to access Australian visas without being subject to the occupation skilled lists. These include:
- Lawyers (who will also have reciprocal rights to practice in each country)
- Accountants
- Building & Landscape architects
- Engineers
- Urban Planners
- Scientists
- Researchers
- Advertising
- Management consultants
- Manufacturing and energy distribution
Recognition of professional qualifications between Australia and the UK will also be increased with improved collaboration between accreditation and regulatory bodies.
