Study in Canberra

As a domestic or international student in Canberra, you will find all the services and facilities you need from both an academic and social perspective. Canberra provides excellent facilities for study, including access to the National Library, the largest library in Australia.

The nation’s capital offers a range of quality tertiary institutions including the Australian National University and the University of Canberra. The Canberra Institute of Technology is the largest provider of vocational study and training. Collectively they offer choice, convenience and advancement in all fields of study.

Australian National University (ANU)

The ANU is one of the world’s most highly respected universities. It has been consistently ranked number one in the southern hemisphere by The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Higher Education and the London Times Higher Education Supplement.

ANU continues to attract some of the world’s finest students and staff. Its reputation for distinctive research is widely recognised, and its teaching programs are among the nation’s best.

A wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs are offered through ANU’s seven colleges.

The University of Canberra (UC)

The University of Canberra is ranked in the top ten for Australian universities and has a strong commitment to educating international students in Canberra and in overseas locations.

Courses are provided in areas such as teaching, nursing, pharmacy, exercise science, architecture, design, urban planning, cultural heritage conservation, environmental sciences, law, information technology, engineering, public administration, entrepreneurship and management.

There are currently 11,000 students enrolled at the university from across Australia and over 90 countries around the world. The university places a strong emphasis on the integration of academic and occupational (work based) learning in preparing students for professional careers.

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT)

CIT is the region’s largest vocational education and training provider offering over 450 courses across five campuses. Courses on offer range from trade qualifications to university degrees; even postgraduate qualifications are available, with all CIT qualifications recognised throughout Australia.

The Canberra Institute of Technology provides over 150 study pathways into the University of Canberra. Your studies can also gain you credit with six Australian universities, including the Australian National University and Charles Sturt University.

The institute caters for a diverse student population with over 20,000 students currently studying from over 70 countries, creating an exciting and social atmosphere across campus.
